We're booked to go to our timeshare in PVR this October. We have to arrive an leave on a Saturday. In looking at prices from SFO or OAK to PVR, I was shocked. Whereas we had flown previosly for $250-300 on Alaska Non-stop from SFO, now they want $500 via LAX or over $600 for the direct flights. The only cheap alternative I found was through Suntrips for around $300 plus tax.

Now my question is: should I just book that, forgo any Alaska miles or do people think the fares will drop. It seems that the lowest fare codes are already sold out anyway; that's why the direct flight is more expensive.

Any advice?

Hi Hobbi. Your exactly right... AS offered great deals to that market in the past. Allegro (Suntrips) out of Oakland at $203 looks to be the best for the moment.

I'm glad I waited. New Sale in Progress at the Web Site. Had to switch days, though, to go weekdays.
