Online travel is taking off around the world, especially in the Asia-Pacific region. According to PhoCusWright Research, more than 20 million people will spend $20 billion on online travel in 2004 - a 170 percent increase in two years. While the growth is led by the United States - 24 percent of travel bookings online by the end of 2004 and 29 percent by the end of 2005 - nearly 10 percent of bookings in Asia Pacific will be made online by the end of 2004, compared with 3.5 percent in 2002.
