HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Two days after a college student sued the federal government over how its "no-fly" list operates, the Justice Department said it will send an official to the airport Friday to ensure she can board her plane to Paris.

Her suit, filed in federal court in Harrisburg, asked that her name be kept off the list and sought to have a judge force the government to establish a system by which such listings can be challenged.

Late Wednesday afternoon, the Transportation Security Administration's ombudsman's office sent her lawyer a fax saying her identity had been confirmed and the airlines notified, steps necessary to avoid problems getting a boarding pass.

It's good they have a process for this http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

Why should ordinary citizens have to go to these efforts? Are we really gaining in the 'war on terrorism', or are WE the war?

Why should her suit be over when she boards the plane? She's entitled to know how and why her name got on that list, as well as what *information* they have on her. IMHO, the reason the TSA and any other branch of government will never apologize or admit they made a mistake is because it would reveal just how ineffective and incompetent *security* really is. Travelers have no idea they are on the list until get to the airport, and now it's their fault because they could have asked in advance? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif

I predict she'll be escorted to new living quarters in Gitmo.

It would be nice if someone could get the case number.
