WESH News 2 Article (http://www.wesh.com/news/2736500/detail.html)

"An international plane is being detained at Dulles Airport and its passengers are being questioned.
British Airways Flight 223 has been on the tarmac, several hundred feet from the terminal, since it arrived at 7:06 P.M.

Officials with the FBI and the transportation security administration won't say why the plane is being detained."

My money is on the Terrorism Support Agency needing yet another demonstration of stupidity to justify their useless existence.

... talk about getting into your New Years Eve Party unfashionably late.

After all these alerts, surely we must have caught some foreigner with an unpaid parking ticket at least.

BBC Radio 5Live said 30 UK passengers were interrogated for three hours and allowed to leave.

(I thought they said Dallas but it must have been Dulles ...)

Washington Post Article (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A46365-2003Dec31.html)

"Jennifer Marty, a TSA spokeswoman, said there was no specific incident on board that prompted the investigation."

"We were very interested in that particular flight, based on intelligence," Hatfield said.

Hatfield, that's the strangest use of the word 'intelligence' that I've ever seen. You're a liar, just like your former boss James Liar Loy was. At least he taught you how to lie with a straight face.

Does anybody else think this was in retaliation for the BA pilot's very public and united desire to not have armed marshalls on their flights??? The goons could just have easily done this inside the international arrivals hall at IAD.

David Nelson must have been going home for New Year's Eve.

Thank goodness it's 2004. Only 11 months until the election.

Up, yours, Ridge!

From reading the news sites, I love the fact the FoxNews points out "at least 1 person was questioned" but FAILS to mention NOTHING WAS FOUND AND EVERYONE WAS LET GO.

From reading that you would assume they found people and detained them http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

See the CNN article:

BA cancelled today's equivalent flight.

So where is the anti-French crowd now? Isn't BA cancelling these flights and ANNOUNCING it? The french did the same and were labeled as "idiots not helping the war on terrorism" for allowing suspects to avoid showing up for the flights.

Looks like I win this bet, too. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

No one detained, no plot thwarted, NOTHING.
