This is a humor piece from the Guardian based on the recent incident in which a BA crew was grounded in Oslo for allegedly reporting to work while under the influence:

It can be a little unsettling for the nervous flyer to look down on to the jagged peaks below knowing that your life is in the hands of the man flying the plane. And then his voice comes over the Tannoy: "This ish your captain speaking. I really love you. No, I'm not just saying that, I really, really - no, shut up, listen, right - I love all you passengers, right, because you're really like, you know, lovely."

Here is an article on the incident precipitating this satirical piece:

Plus, we hate it when they run out of our selection because the staff has consumed it.

While a little off topic, anyone know how the loudspeaker came to become known as a tannoy in the U.K. I've heard several family friends call it that and didn't know what they mean until I asked. Was too embarassed to get them to explain further, but have always been curious. Anyone?

It was the name of the manufacturer of the loudspeakers that were predominant in the U.K in the first half of the century. The name was emblazoned on the front of the horn.

Latest news this morning is that both the BA pilots involved have resigned and the cabin crew member is still the subject of an ongoing internal inquiry.
