Unions banned for screeners at most airports
SFO not affected by federal order forbidding collective bargaining

That's because despite the very accurate forgeries of the TSA Uniform and TSA Badge that they wear, the screeners at SFO work for (and have sworn their allegiance to?) this privately held outfit:

and not these United States of America.
It is the story of the first RoboCop movie coming to life!

So what? Lot's of fear-mongering you're doing in all these threads but no substance.

CATSA, you work for the Canadian Government right? Would you feel the same way about your job or the security of your airport if there were private contractors wearing the same exact uniform you wear and getting paid by a private company, not the Crown?

No, I work for a private company that has a contract with CATSA. CATSA is not a government branch but is in fact a not-for-profit crown-owned corporation. Every screening point in Canada is staffed by contractors from a variety of companies and unions. We all wear the same uniform and get the same training and receive CATSA and Transport Canada oversight. We also all have to pass an RCMP background security check before we're allowed to work.
You should also know that federal court security screening is undertaken by private security companies under contract and command of the US Marshals Service.

Hey, at least he knows that not ALL the problems are the fault of the TSA screeners. SFO has a LOT more problems than many other airports, thus proving that the "private" screeners that so many clamor for are not the end all to their woes.
I can't believe that I am defending this guy, but at least his eyes are now opened.

NO it does NOT.
SEA has 2 hour lines and an evacuation a week.
BOS has SCREENERS coming to work possesing a HANDGUN.
LAS has Baggage Screeners who steal from the luggage.
ATL has screeners who CANNOT speak english.
SFO is no different than any other US Airport. The TSA is STILL in charge.

If the contractors screw it up, it's still TSA's fault. It's TSA's responsibility to provide adequate oversight. For the record, I don't believe private screeners are any better or worse than federalized screeners. It all depends on what kind of leadership they have.

SEA had ONE WEEK of 2 hour lines, and HARDLY one evac a week.
BOS had ONE screener do something stupid.
LAS...your statement is subjective.
ATL...Few of the private screeners could speak english at ANY of the airports. Welcome to America.
SFO actually does have more problems than MANY of the other 428 airports out there.
