Curry house to open in old 747

The owner of a chain of curry restaurants is to open his latest venture in an old Boeing 747 jet.

Salik Miah, who owns around 40 restaurants, wanted a special venue to put his Rajmoni chain on the map.

So he bought a decommissioned British Airways Boeing 747, which last flew in 1983.

He plans to open it for business next month on a two-acre plot in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire.

Designer Adnan Mallick has spent six months converting the plane, reports The Sun.

He said: "Mr Miah wanted somewhere really special as a flagship, and the jet is ideal.

Maybe so when we eat (which we do frequently) we can do so in familiar surroundings?

This is cool, right along with the posting about the guy that wil convert a L-1011 to a home. Trivial information, but cool.

British Airways didn't decommission any 747s in 1983. Their first 747-100s were withdrawn in 1998.

Since I have other reasons to visit Potters Bar every couple of years, I appreciate the information. Thanks, doc.
