Hong Kong International Airport:May Passenger Traffic -80% On Year On SARS

Hong Kong's international airport recorded an 80% fall in passenger traffic in May due to the SARS outbreak, the Hong Kong Airport Authority said Thursday.

It said May passenger traffic fell to 565,000 from 2.81 million in May 2002 as flight cancellations resulted in a 59% drop in the number of passenger aircraft movements.

SQ, NW, and UA seem to be offering fares to Asia that are very cheap. Hopefully they will stimulate demand and encourage other carriers (hint, hint AA) to do the same.

This is also happening in Europe as well, I have booked UK > Taiwan for around $500.

There are some good offers as well to Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai

Traffic is down 80%, but I can't get a reasonably priced oneworld ticket to HKG.

What's wrong with the oneworld carriers here? The other guys are practically giving the seats away.
