Two federal safety screeners who were led in handcuffs from their post at Baltimore-Washington International Airport after an alleged fight Saturday afternoon have been charged, police said.
Antwain E. Grant, 28, of Baltimore was charged with three counts of assault, resisting arrest, destruction of property and disorderly conduct. Jayson Boyd, 23, of Mitchellville was charged with assault and disorderly conduct.
Both were released from the Anne Arundel County Detention Center after posting bail, police said.
No security risk resulted from the incident, according to Maryland Transportation Authority Police.
Hey, someone could have snuck a toenail scissors past the checkpoint while everyone else was distracted by the fight.

For those of us who use BWI on a regular basis, it isn't so funny. It's a sad commentary on the state of affairs at my main airport.

Good thing it's not called "Friendship International" anymore.
The incidents just get more and more bizarre there (oddest - and genuinely funniest in my mind - was the deer that made it into the terminal, past security, and down into the gate area a couple of years back).

I'm sure BWI can afford to lose these two clowns, as well as many less-pugnacious employees...

I don't think we can expect better from Federal employees. You don't professionalize unless you privatize.

BWI does have its share of problems. I do know that most of the screeners there are not even from that airport, they are there on temporary duty. maybe they will get their act together and be able to find enough people who can pass the background check and will work for the pittance the pay is in that area. The same can be said for all the airports in the DC area.

These two guys were locals. What I find amazing is that even after assulting an officer, they were only placed on adminstrative leave. My guess is that they are still getting paid.

They will be fired. With all the tools being used to "rightsize" the TSA, an incident like this will surely result in these two nuckleheads being given the axe. I have seen people let go on much less. However, there is always an "investigation" and the proper paperwork has to be done. So individuals are placed on "administrative leave" until the paperwork is accomplished.

And a good thing. There should be an investigation. Every American deserves that the facts be looked at before decisions are made. This is not old Iraq, we ensure everyone gets his day in court before a jury or that due process is served.

Only a Government Agency would need to perform an investigation to terminate two nitwits who got into a fist-fight.
This is yet again an example of wasteful government spending.
FIRE THE NIT-WITS, NOW.

Sure, there should be an investigation, but it should take only a few hours and be done with by time the mgmt goes home, next day at worst.
Though in most businesses, they may be kicked out after about 20 minutes of investigation.

I think their is already enough evidence that administrative leave without pay would be appropriate.

A young deer crashed its way into Baltimore-Washington International Airport yesterday. The animal -- described as the size of a large dog -- jumped through a glass window in the lower level near the Pier B baggage claim, and managed to run up an escalator into the passenger promenade about 9: 45 a.m., said airport spokesman John White."You don't see that every day," White said. The male deer got to a gate before turning around suddenly and heading toward the...

too bad he didnt try running through security last week while the two TSA nitwits were hitting each other! That would have been perfect.
