NBC10.com Article (http://www.nbc10.com/news/2159679/detail.html)

"Andrews said he is determined to plug this hole, despite what Golden said. "The TSA might not answer your questions but they will answer."

Typical of Scumbag Loy's non-security. "Drive on in; we're safe because no passenger would dare possess a pointy object."

You're a disgrace, Jimmy Loy. I have no idea how you obtained the rank of Admiral but you should be stripped of it immediately. Perhaps you'd feel more at home in Cuba or China?

Here's some of the story... <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Gate 47 Cited In News Report As Security Risk

POSTED: 3:54 p.m. EDT April 25, 2003
UPDATED: 4:22 p.m. EDT April 25, 2003
PHILADELPHIA -- In a story you'll see only on NBC 10, reporter Lu Ann Cahn uncovered a gate at the Philadelphia International Airport that could pose a serious safety threat to thousands of passengers. Cahn returned to the airport Friday to see if anything had been done after our report aired Thursday night.

NBC 10 discovered that Gate 47 is an unguarded entrance to the tarmac at one of the nation's busiest airports.

Despite the security issues Cahn pointed out in her story, it was business as usual Friday morning. But late Friday afternoon a padlock had appeared on the gate.

Still, airport officials insist there is no security risk.

For four days, NBC 10 saw one contractor after another come through the gate and onto the tarmac without being checked. There's no police officer, no security camera and no electronic card reader there. Even vans went through the gates with no problem. These vans could contain anything and nobody is checking them before they go into a sensitive area of the airport.

The gate is not an aircraft gate. It is a gate in an airport perimeter fence. I feel a whole lot "safer" now...

Just another reason to avoid PHL & stick with PIT & CLT when flying US!

Seriously though, I read the article and am familiar with the airport as it was 20 mins from my prior home. Something should be done...that's a major problem.

Would someone please remind me exactly what all those *security* fees are for? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

- To bankrupt the airlines
- To hire more from the gestapo and say "well they have a High School Education"
- To give McDonald's workers, LE jobs and yet they still want to know if you want fries with that coke.
- To keep you from watching the TSA emploees screen your unopened checked bag without a warrent.
- Bogus classification consistantly reminding me of 9/11 (calling it "The September 11th Security Fee" when it should be called "TSA Security Rip-Off fee")
- To let the terrorists win.
- To remind you to reconsider how you will vote in 2004! Remember the election DOES come in The United States!
- To give it to Mikey! YEAH! He won't eat it, he hates everything!
