Authorities believe the machine detected chemicals that can be used to make explosives, but are also found in over-the-counter products such as perfume and cosmetics.

"We must act in the safest manner possible, and that is to assume that there is a hazardous item, McEwan told The Trentonian of Trenton for Tuesday's editions. "That's why the airport was evacuated."

<paraphrased> "We must act in the most thoughtless manner possible because we have shoddy equipment that cannot distinguish perfume from plastique and because we are incapable of using our brains, only mindlessly responding. If the travelers must suffer because we are not willing to make a judgement call that the craptapular explosives/chocolate/cosmetics detector is probably malfunctioning, then so be it. We gat paid whether the travelers are needlessly inconvenienced or not and if they don't like it they can stay home."

Yes -- but I bet all those inconvenineced passengers felt so "safe" ... <gag>

I was surprised to read this article because I thought the only commercial airline at TTN had pulled out. I guess not. It appears they have 6 or 7 flights a day to BOS.
