Merging of public and private databases will create secret files

the inquirer Article (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=8366)

"The problem as the EFF sees it is that because travellers cannot review or correct the information, they might find themselves barred from travel, with no method of redressing the situation.

This, said the EFF, means that the Department of Transportation's proposed exemptions contravenes the constitution of the USA, which gives individuals a guaranteed right of freedom to travel."

This is certainly not the solution to our problems.

And secret governments with secret databases is just an invitation for misconduct.

The TSA is STILL not accepting responsibility for fraud/loss/damage by their screeners. Anyone seen claim forms lately (??)... I don't for a minute trust the government on an appeals process for those barred and getting such a person un-barred.

My 2 cents... I also don't believe for a minute this is going to catch anyone other than innocent people - hence preventing people from being able to travel by air. (tell me how you profile a person in a sleeper cell that has been here 20 years, tell me how HE/SHE differs from anyone else)
