Newsstand - political instability and your travel plans

In about a week, my wife, 8-year-old daughter, and I are scheduled to fly ORD-London for 5 days vacation there. They will then fly home while I go on to Italy on business for 4 more days.

We're seriously considering cancelling the whole trip due to the situation in Iraq and the unpredictable events that could follow whatever military action takes place. We're concerned that even if we are never actually in harm's way, the stress of being abroad during this time would seriously detract from our trip.

Just wondering if anyone else is facing similar decisions and which way they're leaning.

I just moved a business class ticket from Syd-HNL from March to June.

Am going abroad the next two weekends.

I have no plans to cancel either trip.

I'm not canceling any trips. Granted I'm not making any plans to go to the middle east, but the way things are running right now, we're going to be living with a lot of political instability for the next couple years, at least.

I'm not postponing my life that long.

I know for sure, I'm avoiding US/UK carriers for the next little while. And have rescheduled my UA flight for AC to Canada next week.

The only plan of mine that is being changing is my planned visit to TLV on the 29th. Apart from that I will still travel, otherwise I don't get paid!

Just went SEA-ORD-LHR-ORD-SEA last weekend, have 3/29-3/31 booked SEA-DFW-FRA-DFW-SEA. I'm flying on American Airlines and have absolutely no intentions of changing these plans.

How 'bout we all calm down a little? If there's really concern about heightened security, keep an eye on state department warnings peciliar to each country you plan on traveling to.

I should think that you are in far more danger being in a crime-ridden city like Chicago (or in my case Los Angeles) and probably driving here and there, then you would ever be in the London area.
