Newsstand - DFW Terminals A, B and C evacuated today

There was another evacuation of the three AA terminals at DFW (A, B and C) today. Apparently a door had been left open (or was opened) next to a gate and that prompted the evacuation.

It was interesting to hear the TSA spin doctors explaining this on the radio. Since the treminals were reopened within one hour, this was a really great evacuation and it went very smoothly!

As one "security expert" said on the channel 4 news this morning: If it had been a real situation, there were two major problems. It took too loong to get information to passengers, and all evacuated passengers were just standing in front of the terminals. What a great spot to get a few thousand victims for a real terrorist!

What imbeciles. There's no such thing as a 'great evacuation'. All such an evacuation does is underscore the incompetence of the TSA.

Shut this agency down now! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif

Really? I wonder what all the passengers and AA have to say about it. My guess is it wasn't so great for them.

The article in the Morning News today (p.41A, I don't see it online) mentions in passing:

Screeners also had to conduct another sweep of Terminal A because they forgot to check the satellite terminal used be American Eagle, the report said.

When they're busy randomly harassing people and engaged in the Great Pointy Object Search, it's easy to see how something minor like a satellite terminal could have slipped their minds...
