Newsstand - Incident at RDU closes Terminal A

What I can't figure out is how this happened here. There are only two security entrances to the terminal. The north entrance you get narrowed down after the metal detectors and must pass a table and the gauntlet of police after the TSA. The south entrance usually has 3 cops watching after the TSA and plenty of TSA around so how can someone just keep on walking after beeping. Also this was a college student so he had no backpack to wait for after the detectors? I always have to wait now for my bag to be x-rayed and when a student always had a backpack. Seems weird to me.

They must have only had 20-30 TSA around instead of the 50 I see. OK, I'm kidding a little on the numbers http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif.

Actually this sounds like a sign that things are getting better. If this happened a year ago the terminal would have been closed for half the day. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif
