In today's USA Today, there is a great article on September 11, 2001 with a cover photo of United Captain Jim Hosking and the printout of the message sent to him on UA890 NRT-LAX about protecting the cockpit, and an hour by hour account of the shutdown of America's skies.

I generally do not read USA today, but I must say, this was an excellent, well-written article. Very riveting stuff!

Amazing well-written news article. If I didn't know it was true, I would swear it was a Tom Clancy novel. A lot of people earned their pay on that terrible day...

Curiously, CNN decided to run a similar piece the same day. Funny how that works.

Though, interesting and riveting information (and the USA Today piece was quite well-written), I must admit that I don't see how, 11 months later, it is really news.

dctorres, I think it's news for the same reason that Watergate continues to generate news.

As more facts emerge, as different viewpoints, experiences and perspectives come to light...that is news.

Even if the event itself happened last year or a million years ago.

Even the accompanying interactive animation (mapping the diversion of planes in the first hours) is well done, if a bit chilling to watch.
