Former Afghan president delayed at Orlando airport

A former president of Afghanistan was removed from a trans-Atlantic flight when security screeners in Florida mistakenly interpreted a comment he made as a threat, the FBI said Sunday.

Sibghatullah Mojaddedi was pulled out of a boarding line for a Virgin Atlantic flight to London on Friday for security officials to conduct an additional search of his baggage, FBI agent Wendy Evans said.

Mojaddedi assumed he was being singled out because he was wearing traditional Afghan clothing and his wife was wearing a veil, Orlando Police Officer Charles Stewart said.

you don't say bomb [or gun or hi to your brother jack] at security. how do you misinterpret bomb.
edit to add... its not clear what was said and the article is confusing. but i think that if the screeners thought they heard bomb or god will revenge, they acted much better than the majority of incidences reported on security problems.

Norm: "I got a plane load of witnesses that say you threatened her with a bomb."

Greg: "No! I said I didn't have a bom..., I said, its not like I have a bomb."

Norm: "You said bomb on an airplane"

Greg: "What’s wrong with saying bomb on an airplane?"

Norm:"You just can't say bomb on an airplane!"

Greg: "Bomb bomb bomb, ba-bomb bomb bomb!"

Agent: "Hey Norm, we got a specialist coming."

Greg: "Bye Norm."
