Two years ago my wife and I were on NW 68 - a 747-400 from DTW to AMS. We had taxied up near the gate but stopped about 40 feet short while some ground equipment was moved out of the way. All of a sudden - WHAM - something hit the plane. There was dead silence for about 30 seconds and then the pilot came on the intercom saying that a KLM 747 being pulled by a tug clipped our tail with its wing and that there was nothing to worry about - although we MIGHT have to evacuate the plane via the slides. 30 minutes later we finally were allowed to get off the plane via stairs down to the tarmac. Both planes were significantly damaged and had to be towed away. |
