Plane Trouble Gives Spanish Queen a Night in Bangkok
Queen Sofia of Spain made an unexpected stopover in the Thai capital Wednesday after the airliner taking her to Vietnam from France broke down, Thai airport officials said.
Queen Sofia, wife of King Juan Carlos, was about to leave from Bangkok's Don Muang international airport on a scheduled Air France flight to Hanoi when the pilot aborted the take-off, saying the aircraft's engine had a problem.
``The control tower called the plane back after the pilot said it could not take off because of some problems with the engine,'' a spokesman for the airport told Reuters.
