Fall In Passenger Traffic at Hongkong But CEO Saya Better Than Expected

The Airport Authority of Hong Kong said passenger traffic at Chek Lap Kok airport in 2001 fell by 0.9 pct year-on-year to 33.06 million.

In a statement, it said 2001 cargo traffic fell by 7.4 pct to 2.08 million tonnes, while flight movements rose by 8.2 pct to 196,805.

In December, passenger traffic fell 0.9 pct year-on-year to 2.76 mln,

while flight movements rose 2.6 pct to 16,580, mainly due to an increase in flights to and from China, Taiwan and Japan.
