The Hungarian Government has agreed to inject Ft 9.2 billion (about $33 million) into the State airline MALÉV by yearend, spokesman Gábor Borókai announced.

Appetite for emerging market carriers, which are often state-run, usually over-staffed and short on capital, was on the wane anyway thanks to the rise of global alliances of major carriers and a surplus of seats in a slowing world economy.
