From today's Sacramento Bee
FORECAST:TURBULENCE: A ummer of air-travel misery is again likely as woes continue to grow. (http://www.sacbee.com/ib/news/ib_news01_20010514.html)
E-tickets may be hassle this summer, but Web still valuable tool (http://www.sacbee.com/ib/news/ib_news02_20010514.html)
As far as paper tickets are concerned, I think they make sense for the recreational traveler, but not for the elite status pax. I've found that it is easier to just have the airline re-route you on another carrier when you have major flight challenges. I know that at United I was able to do this by phone many times last year and on 3 or 4 occassions they even called me at home before I left for the airport.
