As you might know Stockholm Arlanda is now in a building period. Alot of people in the airline business also thinks that the name Stockholm Arlanda Airport is getting old and tired. Whats the hottest suggest so far for a new name?
Alfred Nobel Airport
What do you say about that name? Should they keep Arlanda or pick Alfred Nobel instead? Any other suggestions?

Taking a cue from our renaming sports stadiums for various coporate sponsors, how about:
Saab/Volvo Airport? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Seriously speaking, I like Alfred Nobel Airport idea. But name change will mean confusion for many passengers.

Change it only if the 3-letter code changes to TNT http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Greta Garbo was Swedish?? I thought she was German. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif
kempis: Only the Swedish people can decide whom they wish to memorialize, but your last two suggestions would seem to make a lot of sense.

Greta Garbo was Swedish. Actually she was born as Greta Gustafsson but later changed her name. She lived most of her life in NYC but she is burried in Stockholm.

I agree with RichG:
Raoul Wallenberg Airport or
Olof Palme Airport
Would both be pretty good names.
Considering that a totally redone square in central Stockholm has been given the name Raoul Wallenberg Square I would opt for Olof Palme Airport. That would be a great way to memorate a person who tried to do - and did - much for the world, and whose assassin remains to be found and brought to justice.

Or ERICSON wireless Airport??
"Welcome to Stockholm home of Ericsson"
That is the first sign you already see when you get to ARN.
But seriously, I prefer Nobel.
