Like everyone here on Flyertalk, I never read newspapers, watch TV, listen to radio or visit other internet sites to get my news. I rely only on this board.
But I have recently discovered that there are news sources on the net that give the day's happenings and update them almost as quickly as "In the News".
So, if you are a real news junkie, check out: http://cnn.com http://msnbc.com http://www.times.com/
My bet is there are plenty of other sites just like these!. It is an amazing world we live in!

I hate to tell you this, but if your were a REAL NEWS JUNKIE, you'd already have known of these sites for some time, instead of having just discovered them, as they have been operating for quite some time now!
However, the gesture is certainly appreciated!

Yeah, but those are full of irrelevant noise. Only airline news matters to true aficionados!

Wow! Really! You must really know the Net!

Opus --
I really don't! I am truly learning to type and find my way around a computer, as we speak, but I have been watching those news shows for quite some time and they always advertise their websites. In fact, as you probably know, MSNBC is a partnership between MSN and NBC, so from the get go, it was oriented to the net.
I had been watching MSNBC way prior to its getting accolades for its coverage for the FL election results, as I am a big fan of Bryan Williams (a fellow Jersey boy!), the heir apparent to Tom Brokaw. He has been anchoring a wrap up of the news on MSNBC at 9 PM EST (repeated at 12PM) on MSNBC, and it is rebroadcast at 10 PM on CNBC (repeated at 1AM EST), there. It provides the news coverage feeds/stories that were on the NBC nightly news of that day with Brokaw, allowing me to watch CBS and ABC!
IF that were not enough, I also catch the BBC NEWS on one of the local PBS stations in NY metro area (CH. 21 - WLIW NEW YORK), as well as ITN's newscast that is broadcast on 2 different PBS stations!
Finally, Bryan William's newscast also repeats outakes from both the Today show and the Dateline shows, especially this past week's show on Air travel.
So my good friend, EPS, you would have learned something had you watched his program!!!

Well, I try to take everyone's comments at face value. IF that was not his intent, well, so be it. Perhaps, Rudi, you know Opus' personailty a bit better than me. I knew that he had not held me in high regard given his past comments about my posts, but I had hoped that he was being genuine in his comments.
If not, then all I can say is that if HE, really knew the net, this "discovery of his" would not have come as such a "News Flash" to those so interested in current events.

You have to be familiar with opus to know that pretty much anything he says will be either sarastic and/or contain an obscure reference.

While I might admit to having a bit of evil fun once in a while, I certainly have never commented in any way (good or bad) on any of your posts.

Since this thread has degenerated into analysis of misinterpreted intentions, why don't we take Emily Litella's advice (SNL - c. 1978) and say Never mind! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gifx
