I read in the New York times this morning that SAA has won the rights to connect New York and Lagos. This will end a six and half year stretch without direct links between the two countries.

I think that it is very interesting that an American carrier is not taking this route as I presume that it would be profitable considering Nigeria is an oil rich country. Also, I think that one of the reasons SAA was possible to get this route is because the CEO of the company is an American.

Wish United would start a route into Africa. Would love to get into that west African area AND get double miles for doing it!

Congradulations on having your dream come true. South Africa is a great place (I am bias I am from there). Anyway the $747 fare did not last long and it is now up over 1500. Do share some details of your trip.

Do share some details of your trip.first, had 2nd thoughts of the 15hrs nonestop from atl, however it was the shortest 15hrs in my life needless to say "the flight was that enjoyable(party of three). stayed at suncity.the people were truly amazing,FRIENDLY.SERVICE IMPECABLE,(SERIOUSLY).highlight of the trip was a tour of a local african village, seeing how the local african tribes live, their huts, their music, dance and having lunch at their restaurant on site ( buffet style)this was a experience that will stay with me for a very long time. one dissappointment was the safari adventure,we didn't see a elephant.won't hesitate returning to your country in the near ,near future.
THE SERVICE ON SAAIRLINE TRULY SHATTERED MANY OF ITS RIVAL.(U.S.A OR INTERNATIONALLY)
