Is anyone planning on taking advantage of this one? I already have the 8 Alaska segments but can't decide if I should go for the 8 Northwest.
Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - 2-4-6-8 promotionView Full Version : 2-4-6-8 promotion SeattleKev Sep 18, 01, 11:40 am Is anyone planning on taking advantage of this one? I already have the 8 Alaska segments but can't decide if I should go for the 8 Northwest. YVR Cockroach Sep 18, 01, 12:19 pm Trying to talk my GF into it (and to get the AS 5k first online purchase bonus too). The trouble is the fares. Id imagine it'll cost at least $400 to get 8 NW segments. Anne at WebFlyer Sep 19, 01, 2:14 pm This might help with planning: the 2-4-6-8 promotion has been extended through Dec. 14. YVR Cockroach Sep 19, 01, 2:57 pm SeattleKev If you can drive up to Bellingham, there is a good fare to get 6 segments. $198 ($212.50) r/t on NW/CO BLI-SEA-EWR-PVD which doesn't require a night's stay, let alone a Saturday night stay. Can do it in a weekend. About 6,800 Q-miles + the various bonuses. SeattleKev Sep 19, 01, 3:17 pm Thanks Anne! Do you know if they have extended the "Sum Sum" promotion as well? It is scheduled to end on September 21st. flytoeat Sep 19, 01, 3:26 pm Sum sum summertime extended to October 5. sa_boy Sep 19, 01, 5:53 pm Just make sure the NW/CO flights are on NW metal. I flew a NW/CO combination and was not credited for NW even though I bought the ticket on NWA.com and it had NW flight numbers SeattleKev Sep 20, 01, 7:34 am I think I might try the NW segs. I need to get back up in the air. cethen Sep 22, 01, 10:55 am According to the e-mail newsletter from alaskaair.com, the Sum-Sum-Summertime promotion has been extended from September 21, 2001, to October 21, 200l. cethen TravelWeary Sep 22, 01, 11:13 am hmmm...with these extensions, I'll actually be able to do some "double dipping" with travel in early October. SeattleKev Sep 22, 01, 2:19 pm Exactly TravelWeary. I called and asked if my segments would count toward both the Sum Sum and the NW promotions and was told they would. Not a bad deal. Throw in the American double miles and it's a great opportunity to rack up some miles. Not to mention the airlines can use the business which I am happy to give them. flytoeat Sep 22, 01, 3:04 pm Cethen: Could you post a link/copy of the correspondence regarding the October 21 Sum Sum Summertime date? When I called Alaska they told me it was only extended to October 5. I like your version better! Missydarlin - any insight on this? Thanks. TravelWeary Sep 22, 01, 7:34 pm flytoeat: I checked on this earlier and the web site says only October 5th. I, too, would prefer the 21st! http://www2.alaskaair.com/promo/summertime/summertime.asp cethen Sep 23, 01, 8:59 am I can't really post a link, because the date of the 21st was printed in my Alaskaair.com news that was sent out by e-mail on Friday 9-21. The Mileage Plan section reads: (quotes added) "Earn miles and travel awards with Alaska Airlines and our partners." "Win a Million Points with Priority ClubŪ Worldwide Find out how you could win 1,000,000 Priority ClubŪ points with the Dream a Million Dreams giveaway. And remember: 1,000,000 Priority ClubŪ points can be converted to 250,000 Mileage Plan Miles. No purchase necessary. See full details and rules.) "Tokyo Bound? "Note: Alaska Airlines Sum-Sum-Summertime promotion has been extended from September 21, 2001, to October 21, 200l. See promotion details." "Alaska Airlines/Northwest Airlines 2-4-6-8 promotion has been extended from November 16, 2001, to December 14, 2001. See promotion details." I see now that the link http://www2.alaskaair.com/promo/summertime/summertime.asp does still says October 5th, so hopefully the date of the 21st is not a typo! (I was planning my 11th and 12th flight segments for the weekend of 10-12 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif ) Missydarlin! Help! cethen missydarlin Sep 23, 01, 9:30 am Cethen et al- MissyDarlin is on vacation for a couple days http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif If you have the email that states the 21st, then call the Mileage Plan office tomorrow and find out what the scoop is. The more people that call, the better your odds are of getting the promo extended (or the website corrected) SeattleKev I hear that SEA/FLL is pricing at around $115 on NW. 2 trips and you've got it. ------------------ Have a great day!! ~~Missy~~ [This message has been edited by missydarlin (edited 09-23-2001).] SeattleKev Sep 23, 01, 10:17 am You rule Missydarlin! Thanks! cethen Sep 23, 01, 11:33 am Yes, I agree! Thanks Missydarlin and have a nice vacation. I'll call in the morning and post my results. cethen missydarlin Sep 23, 01, 1:26 pm Kev and Cethen, thankyou...thankyouverymuch http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I'm noticing, however, the glaring lack of your names on the SEA-DO III (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/001387.html) attendee list ------------------ Have a great day!! ~~Missy~~ [This message has been edited by missydarlin to practice messing with UBB codes (edited 09-23-2001).] [This message has been edited by missydarlin (edited 09-23-2001).] Ling Sep 23, 01, 4:46 pm On the NW website, use the code pe320 and the SEA/FLL RT is 76.28 + 28.72 = 105.00!!! Boy, am I soooooo tempted. I priced out 2 RT at 105.00 each (could be done in less than 48 hours, leaving Monday 10/8 at 10:55pm with the 8th and final segment arriving in SEA at 5:16pm on Wednesday 10/10) total of 210 dollars for 12,256 base miles + 12,256 bonus miles (NW Gold) + 5000 bonus miles (2x 2500 online booking miles). Hmmmm, I just discovered this 2-4-6-8 promotion. I already have 4 AS segments and 6 NW segments scheduled before December 14. And I have an unused AS ticket from April that needs to be dealt with. I'm going to have to do some serious research. I'm wondering about what ff number to use on all the flights to get the 20,000 bonus? The mind is working overtime this week. Linda TravelWeary Sep 23, 01, 7:29 pm ling: We discussed this very issue the first time this promotion came up on the board and pretty much decided you must use your AS number. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum8/HTML/000361.html opushomes Sep 23, 01, 8:00 pm For a brief period of time 9/10/01 N.W. had its own version of the same thing. Had to register with NW for flights on both carriers after 9/7/01. This promotion did not appear on the web site until 9/10/01 and disappeared the next day. I did manage to register for it, although I probably won't get credit for the four AS segments that I flew on 9/7/01 because I was not able to register until the 10th. I had ignored the AS registration because I was using the miles toward NW. So for a few of us, the promotion works both ways. cethen Sep 24, 01, 9:27 am Just got off the phone with Mileage Plan. The CSR assured me, in no uncertain terms, that Sum Sum Summertime ENDS October 5th. The Alaskaaair.com News sent out to subscribers last Friday apparently had the wrong date, although she didn't know anything about the mailing personally. There was no offer to extend it on a case-by-case basis, nor were any other amends offered. Sorry I don't have better news and I apologize for getting anyone's hopes up. cethen SeattleKev Sep 25, 01, 1:07 pm I'd love to attend the Sea Do III...when is it? Ling Sep 25, 01, 5:58 pm SeattleKev, the Sea Do III is November 16-18. Check the thread in Flyertalk Community. TravelWeary, as this is only my third venture into the Alaska Airlines Forum in two years, I guess I missed out. I think I'll try to check in more often, AS has a lot to offer and I fly Horizon all the time. Unfortunately, for the "Sum-Sum" Promotion, Horizon flights do not qualify. After my last post on this thread, I checked both promotions on the AS and NW websites, and printed out the rules. May have to call about certain details. If Horizon flights do not qualify for the "Sum-Sum", do Horizon flights qualify for the 2-4-6-8 promotion? And the idea for using the unused AS ticket I have for EUG or PDX-SEA? Forget it! They want 371/321 dollars for an hour in the sky? It's only 116 dollars for PDX-SFO. Linda TravelWeary Sep 25, 01, 7:16 pm ling: The 2-4-6-8 promotion rules definitely state that Horizon flights qualify also, so go to it! It's on until 12/14/01, so there's plenty of time to get some flights in. p.s. Probably no chance you can make the Seattle Do III is there since it's on a weekend? Too bad, as I'd like to meet up someday. Ling Sep 26, 01, 3:08 pm TravelWeary, it seems strange that I've met more FTers from the east coast than from our own Pacific Northwest. But yes, I rarely take a Friday off, and I've had two Saturdays off this year. We'll meet up one day! I've been going thru serious withdrawals after my last clump of travel in late August (MCO, LAX, and a drive up to Vancouver, Canada), but I'm ready to book some flights. And careful planning and some good promotions like the 2-4-6-8 and NW's 200% Mileage Match will hopefully help me renew my status and build up my miles accounts. Thanks for the encouragement. Linda |
