Thanks, Missy, you insider! Now I need to figure out how cheaply I can do this. It might be incentive enough to accumulate miles prior to the award level increases and redeem a couple of BA awards.

The mileage levels go up on Sept 1 and the bonus doesn't kick in until the end of the promo (will post by Sept 30) so I don't know if you could pull it off. Besides, you can usually BUY great fares into Europe on BA during the low season award times. So it would have to be REAL cheap to be worth the effort for a BA coach award.
But check the web specials! There are some good ones on right now http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

OK, I emailed to register for the promo, but I didn't have a name for it and I won't get a warm fuzzy about this until I get a response. I have a 6:45 a.m. AS flight tomorrow, so I would really like to know that I am registered. I requested an acknowledgement of my email, and we'll see if that happens. If I haven't gotten something by the end of the day, I think I'll follow up with a phone call tonight. Here's hoping.

I just registered for the promotion by calling the Mileage Plan office. They are tracking how you hear about the promotion. This should be an easy 20,000 with the web specials.

Mileage Plan refused to sign me up for this when I called because they said it's a targeted promotion and only certain members qualify. It's not open to all MP members. They said that they have several promos like this going on right now and they are only available to a targeted audience.
FWIW, I suppose that they could check back on those who do get signed up and make sure that they were actually invited to the party. In any case, I certainly wasn't. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Good luck to everyone else.

I called Mileage Plan too, and apparently only those who received the flyer in the mail qualify for the promo. Of course none of this was mentioned when they posted the flyers all over the reservations office so that everyone was telling passengers about it.
So, I apologize for getting everyone's hopes up about it. They wouldn't let me sign up either http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Well, this is interesting. I did not receive the flyer but I called this afternoon and was told to hold on while the CSR checked. She came back and said this was so new, that they had just received the flyer that morning. She then started telling me about it and asked how I found out about it. I told her "an online bulletin board, FlyerTalk." We talked a little longer and then she had to go ask someone a question because she didn't understand if I had to sign up for 2 segments, and then sign up again for 4 segments, etc. She came back and said I just had to sign up once and then she said I was good to go. I don't know if I just got the right person or what. I have been a Gold for several years and should requalify in a couple of weeks for next year if that makes any difference.

Would this offer apply for those who chose to accumulate miled on American Airlines when traveling on Alaska?

No, it wouldn't. It applies to a select group of Alaska Airlines members for application to their Alaska Airlines accounts. According to the Mileage Plan office, you have to have received one of the flyers to be eligible.

Today in my statement, I received the notice of the new Sum Sum promotion. Maybe that's why I was able to register when I called, because I was somehow eligible--or did everyone get one in their statements? My husband has no status, so his statement won't come for a week or so, but I will be interested to see if this is in his statement also.

Yippee!! My first 2K bonus from the SumSum promotion already posted. Also, I got another flyer this week on the exact same promotion except it's called the Most on the Coast promotion.

TravelWeary,
Congrats on your bonus. Can you tell from the flyers that you're getting who the targeted audience is for the 2 promotions?

I just signed up for something called "Most on the Coast promotion with bonus amounts identical to the SUM SUM program. Are these the same program or can I sign up for SUM SUM and double my mileage pleasure?

I didn't think I'd make it to number 12 but I was a busy camper this summer and finished up with my 12th segment yesterday! One of the few promos where I actually succeeded in completing the deal.
