Alaska Airlines' September traffic decreased 2.4 percent to 884 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from 907 million flown a year earlier. Capacity during September was 1.411 billion available seat miles (ASMs), 3.3 percent lower than the 1.459 billion in September 1999.
The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare paying passengers) for the month was 62.7 percent, up from 62.1 percent in September 1999. The airline carried 1,026,300 passengers compared to 1,076,300 in September 1999.
RPMs for the nine-month period totaled 9.088 billion, a 1.6 percent increase from the 8.943 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the nine months ended September 2000 decreased 0.7 percent to 12.935 billion ASMs in 2000, compared to 13.025 billion in 1999.
The passenger load factor for the first nine months of 2000 was 70.3 percent, up from 68.7 percent in 1999. The airline carried 10,254,900 passengers, compared to 10,324,200 in 1999.
