HI all
I flew NZ on a AKL-SYD-LAX connection, checked in at Auckland and my UA Status didnt show at all on any of my BP'S.
I asked the lady to re-enter my MP number and she sad in 100+ words that UA pulled out of NZ and thats that, I should be lucky that they can give me a BP to LAX.
I and most of you here know thats a load of absolute rubbish, So much for Star Alliance.
Has anyone else had this problem when through connecting to a UA flight from Air NZ??
Time to pick up your act NZ!
Dave
I checked in at Wellington Airport in February to fly NZ to Melbourne connecting with UA Melbourne/Sydney/San Francisco. The NZ lady tried for 40 minutes to issue me with UA (Star Alliance!!) Boarding Passes- to no avail. During this time UA and the US in general were criticised. I finally secured the UA BP's at the RCC in Melbourne.
Similar experience in the Koru Club. I showed my NZ Business Class BPass and was also asked for my UA Card. I showed my Global Services (2003) card (they are renewed each February) and was very bluntly and cooly told "it has expired" I showed my RCC 2004 card and was "permitted" to enter.Agent was very condescending inspite of my being super friendly and polite. Later I asked what the fuss was about inasmuch as I was a NZ Business Class Pax and automatically entitled to enter their lounge. Her reply "I need to register you on my log in case we receive any phone calls for you while you are were in the lounge" !!!!!

A most unlikely reason. It has more to do with the fact the Air NZ would have billed UA US$25 for your visit and needed your MP number. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move; to feel the needs and hitches of our life more nearly; to come down off this feather-bed of civilisation, and find the globe granite underfoot and strewn with cutting flints.

I had two separate tickets. One was UA and the other NZ which covered RT side trips AKL-Fiji,AKL- Tahiti, Domestic NZ travel as well as the Wellington-Melbourne NZ sector. Would NZ still charge UA a $25 fee when the ticket was NZ paper?

Well if you had a UA Number on your BP, NZ would use that number to try and get the $25 from UA per lounge visit!
If im in Business class, I refuse to show them my airline card, darn flying C gets me into the lounge regardless!
Im still not very happy with NZ and how they do other airlines seating, not good at all, especially considering their lounge still has UA numbers on the phones!!!!
