Wow just saw this on www.airnz.co.nz (http://www.airnz.co.nz/airpoints/win_million_airpoints.htm)!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cool.gif

Air New Zealand's AirpointsTM frequent flyer scheme is about to welcome its millionth active member – giving one lucky person a celebratory signing-on prize of one million Airpoints.
One Million Airpoints! That's enough to fly twice round the world in First Class - or to travel anywhere in New Zealand every week for almost a year.
Join now to enter!

For a chance to win 100,000 Airpoints, guess which town/suburb the lucky million Airpoints winner resides in and you'll go into the draw to win 100,000 Airpoints.
Go to the ZM site to enter

What if you're already an Airpoints member?
Air New Zealand hasn't forgotten you. If you have an active Airpoints account and joined the programme before 20 January 2004, you will automatically go into a draw to win a second million Airpoints.

The millionth member wins a million. For existing members a random draw (so our chance is one in just under a million) to win a million. The 100k draw is drawn from entries guessing the suburb of the millionth member - multiple entries allowed.

Good luck everyone http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Edited to add: Apologies for the thread title - the millionth member winner is not drawn. Too excited http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I wonder how many computer people will be creting a little program to register themselves over and over again so as that they have a better chance of being the millionth. My money is on the 1M being outside NZ!

If you read the T&C the millionth member winner cant previously have enrolled. Also you must be eligible to join Airpoints in the first place.

The $50 NZ joining fee is deterrent enough for me

Airpoints is Air New Zealand's frequent flyer program. While new Airpoints membership is not currently available to residents of the Americas

...Actually, anyone who's not an NZ resident is out of luck. The Aust. site doesn't have any reference to the comp., so I checked the T&Cs, and right at the beginning:

Entry is only open to New Zealand residents

This also applies to the existing members draw, so they've got something against us Aussies!

The millionth member has now joined airpoints.

As she was from Chch I didnt guess the right suburb in any of my guesses. The winner of 1 million airpoints for existing members is to be announced today.
