Hi

Noticed an office for Austrian/Lauda on Customs St East in AKL - it wasnt there last week.

Got me wondering? Is it:
a) they had an office somewhere else in AKL which Ive never come across and just moved
b) the code share with NZ linking to their flights Oz to Europe via KUL are successful so they're now opening office
c) they are planning on flying trans-tasman to connect to their Oz flights

Looking at their schedule, OS a/c arent on the ground very long in SYD or MEL so (c) is unlikely.

Cheers

Just on the issue of (C)...

As you say the OS schedules are such that they dont spend that long on the ground in SYD/MEL before going back to VIE. They could however, leave VIE in the late evening (or even early morning - allowing connections from all over europe from their last bank of flights and arrive into SYD in the early morning... then do the AKL return (ala TG) and return to Europe in the afternoon. They have 3 777's now - so just doing the maths in my head it may well be a possibility... but as you say it is unlikely. Mind you having said that there would be the option with their 3 777's to open up an independent (of the AU) service to NZ (max 2 weekly frequencies unless they cutback on SYD/MEL). Whether it makes sence to pull them off the BKK runs to do that remains to be seen.
