This will probably be of zero interest to most of the Air NZ forum community, but I thought I'd let you know anyway.

Effective 31 October 2004, the following flight number changes will take place..

Singapore
NZ23/24 to NZ81/82

Taipei
NZ39/38 to NZ87/88

Hong Kong
NZ71/70 to NZ85/86

Auckland - Nadi - Los Angeles
NZ50/51 to NZ20/21/25

Thanks airnzboy, that is actually very interesting (I would have been arguing with TAs about that last one for ages http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif). Any particular reason for the change? Also with the AKL-NAN-LAX (NZ50/55) going to 3 flight numbers, will it mean 2 flight numbers on the outbound and one on the return, or is the routing somehow changing?

Cheers, Zac

Well I'm glad it's useful to at least one person, Zaco! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I don't know why the change was made, but I would speculate it's to align flight numbers (all 08X to Asia, for example) and also perhaps a nod to Asian people's beliefs about the number 8 being auspicious?

Just checked the November OAG guide and noticed there are only BR code-shared flights between AKL and TPE starting on 1 Nov 2004. Checked with NZ reservations and was informed the BR code-shared flight will run through 27 Mar 2005.

The code-shared flights will run four times a week.
NZ 387 AKL - TPE Tu, Th, Fr, Su
NZ 386 TPE - AKL Mo, We, Th, Sa

No NZ metal until 28 Mar 2005 pending further discussion with partner BR. Very disappointing not to have NZ metal and crew between AKL and TPE. :(
