Air New Zealand would like to advise the international schedule changes for Northern Summer 2004 (28 March 2004 - 25 October 2004)
A summary of these changes versus the current published schedule (Northern Winter 2003) are detailed below.
TASMAN
A variety of changes are applicable to the Trans Tasman route due to the introduction of the Airbus A320: the main changes are outlined below.
The below Trans Tasman services remain unchanged:
Four weekly 767-300 services Auckland to Perth Four weekly 737-300 services Christchurch to Brisbane Daily A320 airbus services Wellington to Melbourne
Aircraft change Auckland - Sydney
Auckland to Sydney services will be operated by 8 x services operated by 767-200 aircraft, 4 x services operated by 767-300 and 22 x services operated by Airbus A320 providing 5 daily services daily except Saturday where 4 services will operate.
Increase in services between Auckland and Melbourne
Auckland to Melbourne services will be operated by 17 x Airbus A320, 1 x 767-300 and 3 x 767-200 providing triple daily services (versus triple daily services Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri and double daily services Thu/Sat and Sun services in NW03)
Increase in services between Auckland and Brisbane
Auckland to Brisbane services will be operated by a daily 747-400 aircraft plus 2 x Airbus A320 operating on Fridays and Saturdays (versus daily 747-400 services in NW03).
Seasonal up-gauge on Auckland to Cairns service
Auckland to Cairns services will be operated by 2 x weekly services operated by 1 x 747-400 and 1 x 767-300 aircraft (versus 2 x 767-300 services in NW03).
Decrease in frequency between Christchurch and Sydney
Christchurch to Sydney services will be operated by 14 weekly x Airbus A320 services providing double daily services. (versus 17 x A320 services in NW03)
Decrease in frequency between Christchurch and Melbourne
Christchurch to Melbourne will be operated by a daily Airbus A320 service (versus 8 x A320 airbus, 2 x 737-300 services in NW03)
Increase in capacity between Wellington and Sydney
Wellington to Sydney services will be operated by 13 weekly x A320 services providing double daily services except for Saturdays where one service operates (versus 13 x 737-300 services in NW03)
SHORTHAUL
Many of the shorthaul routes remain unchanged. These include:
Three services per week between Rarotonga and Tahiti and between Nadi and Los Angeles Four services per week between Tahiti and Los Angeles Two services per week between Auckland and Norfolk Island and Auckland and Noumea Five services per week to Tonga A weekly service between Nadi and Rarotonga, Tonga and Apia, and Apia and Los Angeles.
Seasonal change to services between Auckland and Rarotonga
Auckland to Rarotonga services will remain at six direct flights per week up until 31 May. For the remainder of the schedule period services will increase to seven direct flights per week to coincide with the peak period. These flights will be operated by 767-300 and 767-200 aircraft.
Decrease in services between Auckland and Papeete
Auckland to Papeete services will reduce to two direct flights per week for the Northern Summer period. The exception to this is the period 20 Jul - 22 Aug when three direct services will remain. Flights will all be operated by 767-300 and 767-200 aircraft.
Aircraft change between Auckland and Samoa
Auckland to Apia services will remain at three per week. The services will be operated by 1x A320 aircraft and 2 x 767-200s.
Seasonal increase in services between Auckland and Fiji
Services between Auckland and Nadi increase to nine per week with the arrival of the peak period. The flights are operated by 1 x 747-400, 7 x 767-300s and 1 x 737-300 aircraft
LONGHAUL
Many of the longhaul routes remain unchanged. These include:
Daily service to Singapore is maintained Daily service to Hong Kong is maintained Daily service to London is maintained Daily service to Tokyo is maintained 3 services per week to Nagoya are maintained 3 services per week to Honolulu are maintained
Routes that are affected by schedule changes include:
Auckland-Osaka service reduces from 7 to 6 per week. Exception: there will be 5 per week for May/June departures Auckland-Taipei service increases from 2 to 3 per week. Auckland-Los Angeles service reduces from 19 to 17 per week and then reduces again from 30 June 2004 to 14 services per week. Exception: only 14 services per week in May departures. Auckland-San Francisco services commence 30 June 2004. These direct services will operate 3 times per week on a Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and are operated by 747-400 aircraft.
