Does NZ provide a separate check-in facility and lounge for Star Gold card holders at their domestic terminal in AKL and CHC?
Air New Zealand Air Points - Domestic checkin and lounge in AKL and CHCView Full Version : Domestic checkin and lounge in AKL and CHC fm747 Jan 30, 04, 1:23 pm Does NZ provide a separate check-in facility and lounge for Star Gold card holders at their domestic terminal in AKL and CHC? Kiwi Flyer Jan 30, 04, 2:49 pm Hi fm747, and welcome to FT http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Yes *Gold passengers can check in at business counter - there should be a sign with *G logo. And allowed into the NZ lounges if flying same-day on NZ domestic. fm747 Jan 30, 04, 3:09 pm Thankyou for the info Kiwi-flyer. I am flying into AKL Bus class on NZ and then have a domestic AKL-CHC return flight but NOT on the same day (ie. not a connecting domestic flight). I am hoping my *G card will not let me down...so far it never has http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by fm747 (edited Jan 30, 2004).] Kiwi Flyer Jan 30, 04, 4:17 pm <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by fm747: Thankyou for the info Kiwi-flyer. There is info on the lounges here (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum7/HTML/000792.html) When are you coming over here? If its any time soon then you'll certainly notice a big difference in the weather http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Kiwi Flyer Jan 30, 04, 4:21 pm If you're flying NZ out of AKL be sure to use the dedicated check-in area (far right of the check-in counters). You get to skip queues for check-in (okay ocassionally there is a queue here but never very long), the queue for departure tax (can pay at check-in instead of at the bank like everyone else), and customs (dedicated agent). At busy times it can wipe 30+ minutes off. The staff in this area are pretty good too http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif fm747 Jan 30, 04, 4:21 pm Thankyou kindly for the post. The link to the NZ website was useful. I will be in NZ April 9-April 25. fm747 Jan 30, 04, 4:27 pm I was very impressed with the new premium check in area at AKL airport a few months ago. Took me 10 min to get checked in, pay departure tax and go through immigration and security. I fly Australia-USA quite often and (as I am a big fan of NZ) always go via AKL. In my experience Business Class on NZ is much better than UA. Kiwi Flyer Jan 30, 04, 4:28 pm So you're here at Easter then, our autumn (fall). There will be a lot of travellers in the air and on the road with school holidays coinciding exactly with your trip, although not as much travelling as the summer break just ended. Also April 25th is Anzac Day, a public holiday commerorating a battle in WWI - most places are shut in the morning (and some all day). Also be aware in some areas it is between the main tourist seasons of summer and winter, and so much quieter and less on. This is becoming less of an issue now than it used to.
