Air New Zealand Air Points - Luggage limit for *A Gold on Domestic Flight?

Grateful for any advice regarding a luggage issue...

I am about to book a flight AKL-Taupo for mid-Feb. I can get a good fare ($85) with AirNZ online, but will be connecting from LAX and will have two heavyish suitcases with me. I see there is a limit of 20kg and hear it is strictly enforced. Will my *A gold status get me an extra 20kg on a domestic route with a discount ticket? FWIW, I am UA 1K.
