Air New Zealand Air Points - UA returning to NZ?
I'm planning a trip down to South Island this August, and while playing round with Expedia was given, on some days of the last week of August, the choice of departing from LAX on Flight NZ75XX. No codeshare announcement appeared, but it did seem a strange number to put on a flight like this. The equipment was listed as 747-400.
Is this a glitch, a one-off special flight, or the return of UA to this route?
Edited to add: I think this is a glitch - sorry for the post (Expedia seems to have corrected itself and is offering NZ1 or NZ5 on the dates I'm looking at).

It's probably a composite flight - in which two completely seperate flights are lumped together under one flight number to ensure that the NZ option is at the top of travel agent's screens. This is also done for LAX-BNE, LAX-SYD, etc.

That sounds about right - it carried the same departure time as NZ5 and continued onto Wellington under the same number (Expedia was having a bad day, offering me LAX-ZQN via AKL, WLG and CHC!!)

I have a feeling you might not find too many people who agree with you (at least, not here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif).

Wait till you have a problem with NZ see how they respond.
Do you prefer the seat pitch of NZ over UA? In Business class?
