Hi! am not too familiar with Airpoints FF program. My folks have expiring airpoints (end of january) both between 15000/20000 pts and are based in Tahiti.
They don't have any travel plans.
Was wondering of any way of having Airpoints expiry date to be postponed, via account activity (hotel/car rental credited to Airpoints).
Is requesting upgrade coupons now for flights in april+ is doable?
Thanks for your help & Happy New Year!

Unfortunately no. Activity doesnt extend expiry time of airpoints. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Points are deducted at the time of the award/upgrade request. So I suppose your parents just need to book by end of January. It can be up to one year ahead although an upgrade likely wont be confirmed until the date of travel, assuming no status.

Based in Tahiti there arent too many options for using that level of points http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Dear Kiwi Flyer,

You are right - not many options, if any - and they are not flying before points expire.
Thought they could request an upgrade cert now, to be used on a later flight. But from what you wrote, they have to book a flight, then request upgrade, then wait till it clears...
