Hello,
I have had a woeful time trying to use my Airpoints Gold electronic upgrades on my usual flights AKL to LAX and vv - F almost always full by the 3 day in advance window.
I do not want to lose another 2 "upgrades" this year.Is it possible for a colleague to use one of these without my travelling on the same flight?

ozflier, i really don't think so, i used my upgrades and i was expicitly told they were non transferrable. you have an even worse chance when travelling seperately. there is a faint hope of getting someone travelling along with you for them to use your coupon, which i was nearly given (at the airport, not on the phone) but the travelling companion was on a companion award ticket, so no luck (i only had 1 coupon left)
without paper coupons now (despite having your name and nz # on them), i doubt you'll have any luck... perhaps airnzboy can confirm this.

If you are a Gold Elite you can transfer upgrades and points to others - no problems.
But as a Gold these are not transferable and APs are a lot stricter on things these days - which is a shame but understandable. (Of course the AP people are still wonderful but the rules are a little less elastic than they have been previously).
Suprised you had a woeful time upgrading to F as except for the academy awards I have never had a problem - although I have not travelled much since UA and QF took out the F service.

Sadly,I am only NZ Gold - I used my United MP number for a lot of my NZ flights to get 1K status ( that was a mistake )- so missed out on the higher NZ level.
Such is life.
