Bit of a gamble with this one, but advice appreciated all the same. My pack packing son has to spend the night at Narita airport, having travelled Air NZ from Auckland arriving around 4pm. He needs to leave again the next morning around 7/8am. Do Air NZ have any overnight, low cost accomodation deals...(low cost being the operative word here!), that anybody is aware of ? Thanks.

The hotels around Narita airport are often available for 6000 Yen (about USD 50), and these are nice hotels. In Narita city there is a public bath and I think you can rent sleeping space, not sure what this costs but suspect it would be about 2000 Yen. There are also some budget accomodations in Narita but I don't remember the details as I wasn't looking for them but saw some signs in the street. So there are excellent alternatives to sleeping in the airport (which is not allowed by the airport police, they are somewhat strict about that).
mike, answered your same q on the asia board in FT travel.
