Air New Zealand Air Points - Intro of A320 to WLG????????View Full Version : Intro of A320 to WLG???????? MrSydney Apr 4, 03, 4:05 pm Any ideas when the A320 will commence flying into WLG??????????? CorporateFlyer Apr 5, 03, 1:03 am Don't think the runway is big enough - believe 737 is biggest that can fit. At least you dont get the ancient 767's ploughing between Akl & Austr - in some respects a 737 is better! I think the new Airbuses will run Syd/Akl & Chc/Syd MrSydney Apr 5, 03, 2:45 pm Both QF & NZ flew 767s into WLG fron 1985 until about 3 years ago so its not a question of runway length, more about demand. In the more than 20 trips I flew on the 767 to WLG I never ever saw it more than 1/3 full. I personally hate flying the 733 on trans tasman. DavidNZ Apr 5, 03, 3:09 pm Actually, it's possible to pull in a 747-200 at WLG. Koru Flyer Apr 6, 03, 9:45 am For what it is worth the Queen flew in and out of WLG on a 777-200ER. There has been talk over the years of extending the runway but loads are often quite weak out of WLG, and without a sudden tourism boom in that region I don't see that changing any time soon. Personally, I love the 733 in C (except row 1) as the cabin is so small and personal, but in Y it feels a bit squeezy unless you can snare the exit row, which as luck would have it I usually manage with a little help from my friends http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif The extra width of the A320 should really help it feel a bit more spacious in Y; however I have a nasty feeling that the C class will be a disappointment (I'm guessing 38-40" pitch). |
