Air New Zealand Air Points - 744 with different PTVs & controllers in C

Recently I flew on an NZ 744 (sorry, didn't note the rego) which had slightly larger PTVs in Business, with hand controllers set up for Nintendo and with airphones on the reverse side. The IFE offering didn't seem to be any different though - no Nintendo games were actually available, and I have no idea if the airphones were operative.

Does anyone know why this particular aircraft has this setup and why NZ don't appear to make use of the extra features?

That aircraft is ZK-SUJ which was supposed to go to Phillipine Airlines but NZ picked it up. It has been discussed often because it is the only 744 that have flat beds in F.

It is hard to base a marketing strategy around one aircraft. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
