Really? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif
What are the "Freddies" then? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Yesterday, I posted the results of the Frequent Flyer magazine/JD Power and Associates 2000 Domestic Airline Customer Satisfaction Study - US flights - just after they were released "Frequent fliers favor CO". http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum20/HTML/000910.html

Today I noted this quote from "Airwise News":

"The study, which is the only independent analysis of major U.S. airlines based on the actual experience of frequent flyers, shows Continental has been able to maintain its top ranking in the long-haul segment for the second year in a row and moves from third to first for short-haul flights.

How does one characterize the "Freddies" then? "Dependent" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

A little friendly competition and/or "war of words" too http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Not really because the Freddies has nothing to do with the actual flight experience, so they are correct. The Freddies are only about the public's interest in frequent flyer programs. Apples to Oranges.

NOTE: they did their research on 6,000 people. The Freddies were the result of over 130,000 frequent flyers who voted. OAG Frequent Flyer magazine, which is the co-sponsor of those awards just announced that they were folding their doors as of the June edition. InsideFlyer magazine continues to repost record subscription growth and advertising sales.

Go figure?

Yes, indeed. Thanks Randy. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Plums, peaches and possibly even tangerines too! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Yet, one may contend, perhaps wrongfully, that the interest in any given FF program may relate, to some (small/great) degree, to the actual flight experiences on that carrier! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

But hey, as you say, "Go figure!" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif

Sorry to learn of the demise of the OAG/FF Magazine, even if it was long awaited rather than unexpected http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Of course, wishing you continued success with Inside Flyer, etc! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks again.

Bravo! Randy. As a former subscriber to this publication I can only attest that Inside Flyer and FT are the best addressing the concerns of real frequent fliers.

Randy, I am a little surprised that InsideFlyer has a higher subscription rate than OAG. For example, pretty much every frequent-flyer would find OAG useful, but only the small percentage of people who care and/or are addicted to FF miles would find InsideFlyer useful.

Perhaps the reason for the difference in response rates is that OAG readers just don't care, while we FlyerTalkers do care about the airlines, et cetera.

Don't forget too that every airline vieing for a Freddie puts up a link to the WebFlyer site.

Well, it just goes to show that a business cannot take it's constituency for granted. I do not log the kind of miles many of you do, but I love IF Magazine. How else would I have known about Diet Coke Rewards and Delta miles?

How did I first get turned on to IF? Back when there was a promotion with Diner's Club for bonus Club Rewards points and a sweet subscription deal. I thought at first I would take the points, look at the mag and then cancel for full refund. Well, many months later here I am, eagerly awaiting the day each month when my new issue arrives. And now, I have become a Flyer Talk groupie, albiet still a junior member! Keep up the good work, Randy and staff!
