Hi,

I was reading the 03/02 air nz member guide and it seems there is an error there.

The *A award charge seems to say a flight from sydney (australia 1) to se asia is 50,000 airpoints. It hsould be 90,000 airports.

I've got another memberguide which says 03/02 on the back on the same chart it says 90,000 points!.

Thinking Air NZ changed redemption levels, it seems it was an error on printing of the book and it's still 90,000 airpoints to se asia.

Could anyone here, confirm or deny that if you are booking this, your companion will get the flight for 40% less points ie 48,000, despite it not being an air nz flight? ie SQ from SYD-SIN-BKK-SIN-SYD.

Unless I am very mistaken companion fares are only available on NZ flights on NZ metal (great deal actually, especially if you know someone flying in first or business http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ).

The only exception could be the SQ CHC/SIN flight which while it is on SQ metal NZ had a very close codeshare with SQ and treated half of the plane as their own. Of course this deal has no ended so not sure on its continued status within the NZ AP system.

Mark,

When you mention companion fare, can the companion points be taken out of your companions account rather than yours?

IE SYD-AKL-SYD 30k out of yours, and SYD-AKL-SYD 18k companion rate gets taken from your companions airpoints a/c?

Companion tickets are only available when one person (the member) is travelling on a ticket paid for with money, not points.

They take along another passenger (the companion) and the 18k points comes out of the member's account, not the companion's.

Gold Elites can of course "gift" their points to two lucky individuals per year.

Not gift is in the form if rewards rather than points, and if the reward is cancelled then points go back to the GE member.
