Well I'm finally finished Uni here in the great white north, and have decided that once the summer is over, that its time for me to head back home to live for at least 6 months for the first prolonged visit since I was 10, or 15 if you coun't Oz.

I've decided that apart from needing to figure out if I won't to live back in NZ or Oz permanently, I should do a little bit of travelling on the way, as such I have been trying to figure what Inter-pacific flights I can use to bum around the pacific for a couple of weeks before getting to NZ(This was particuarly appealing when it started snowing here a fortnight ago). Unfortunately I can't seem to find a list of the actual routes served so I can plan the flights for my *A RTW ticket.

I don't know if these flights are seasonal as well, so I'd probably be heading down in November in time for summer and after I've worked long enough to secure my US Greencard for another year.

Also if any of you have ideas or suggestions of places you think I should visit on the way, I'd love to here them, the european calender will be pretty full courtesy of friends living all over the continent, from BCN to PAR to CPH, however any suggestions for between the antipodies and Europe would be greatly appreciated.

Adam

From your e-mail address, it looks as though you might be based in Montreal?

Anyway, I will be doing an AKL-PPT-NAN-AKL in NZ Business class, this famous Coral route is definitely on the list of things you must do in life.

Yeah, I'm in Montreal, I love this city especially on days like today, when its sunny and when I step out of my building and walk down Peel and the birds are singing, and I don't need to be wearing a winter jacket.

Unfortunately its not like that for very long, for crying out loud it snowed in May, so thats why I'm leaving Montreal this week, well I'll be back for graduation, but thats it.

I will miss Crescent and St Laurent, the pre-drinking so that you don't feel the -30C weather, and all the wonderfull people in Montreal. I however will not miss our esteemed premier and the politics surrounding this province.

I would also encourage all my fellow Kiwis to make a trip to Montreal in the summer, it is truely one of the great cities on earth, much better than Toronto or Vancouver, everyone should come to the Jazz Festival, Just for Laughs, the Grand Prix, the Indy, and The Fireworks Competition.

Tell me one thing - today's weather...was HOT! I felt like being grilled alive after coming back from the chilling Halifax. I hope NZ isn't like that, right?

As to snowing in May, well, since you are a Kiwi, you shouldn't be too surprised. After all, May is quasi-Winter back in NZ, isn't it? I am sure it snows in the South Island in May, so I guess on way or the other, you will see snow in May! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Now, talking about Winter, how is weather during the Southern winter (July/August) in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands? I know supposedly, the South Island of NZ can be quite cold but how does it compare to Sydney's winter and maybe kiwicanuck knows how to compare it to the Canadian Winter?

True but I've been here for four years now, so I don't expect it to snow during the spring, just as I don't expect it to snow in November in New Zealand.

Guava even in the southern most part of the south island you will not feel like it is winter, well a canadian winter that is. The worst weather that you would have in July and August would be prehaps equivilant to November this year, that is the highs are allways above zero, so your autumn jacket will suffice. As for yesterday being hot, thats about the weather you will find in NZ in the summer, the mid 20's, not to bad, not like it is today with a forecast of 27C
