Was there an invasion we didn't hear about? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Or are you simply interestied in purchasing a NZ domestic ticket, not showing and hoping for miles and credit for the 55555 promo? Secondly, if you weren't credited with them, you'd have no proper way of getting them manually credited, as you have no boarding pass. Cheers, Justin tinkybelle Apr 25, 02, 2:16 am Kawoh!!!!!! NO!!!! it wont happen! Quokka Apr 25, 02, 3:24 am Originally posted by kawoh: quokka, u got it mate, i dont want to pay 400$ or 30,000 points for a rtn flight to AKL, as I can get that leg cheaper in asia when i'll be there, but i want to do a cheap nz$80 return trip on air nz or something.... Like most airlines, it's unlikely you'll receive credit unless you check-in. As for Air NZ specific examples, I've bought a couple round trip tickets on them where I've not flown the return. [Since buying a return ticket was cheaper than the one way I wanted] I provided my UA number when buying those NZ tickets and I received mileage/point credit for the outbound flights, but not for the unflown returns. As for your promo persuit, perhaps Air New Zealand could offer virtual flights for people who want to give them real money for points/promo qualifications but not fly. Think of the margins! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif airnzboy Apr 25, 02, 4:41 am I can confirm what skystar typed above. The points capture occurs when you check-in. However, if you no-show AFTER checking in, your status in our computer system changes from HK (holds confirmed) to NS (no show). This is a flag to reverse your points credit! ------------------ *Any information given in the email is my personal opinion and not the opinion of my employer. kawoh Apr 25, 02, 6:34 am deleted. There must be a bus ride somewhere... Koru Flyer May 22, 02, 4:59 pm Air NZ buses only go in the sky, afterall NZ is an airline not a monopoly! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Mark ozstamps May 23, 02, 10:18 pm With UA (and maybe NZ?) they go a step further. Unless you pass the gate reader they do not count it as a 'flight' taken AFAIK. i.e. even if you had a stooge buy a ticket in your name in AKL, who gets BP and leaves terminal, with UA .... unless you pass the gate reader you are a no-show at that point = no points. However internal NZ may not have tight ID checks - I do not know. In the days before 9/11 of course and little or no domestic security checks of ID, I think it would have been possible to get the 55555 promo without leaving home. A cheap SYD-MEL sold/given to a friend, a stooge dong a short $25 intra northern Thai (after the Baht run adventures I can steer you to PLENTY up there!) ditto with a stooge in Mexico, Brazil and probably BD in England etc. As long as you GAVE away the tickets but the recipients needed to travel under your name, you'd always have found takers. ------------------ ~ Glen ~ [This message has been edited by ozstamps (edited 05-23-2002).] kawoh May 24, 02, 6:16 am deleted.
