Can anyone tell me if they have been in the Business Class Lounge. How is it? Do they have any food, etc.

NZ has a nice lounge in PPT which I used when on a QF flight http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif (Okay NZ had a really bad schedule to PPT in 2000!).

The lounge is comfortable and in the same furnishings as their other lounges, with some basic snacks (sandwiches, chips etc) and alcoholic drinks. So yes I would recommend it.

Note, it is only open for when flights come and go, transitting PPT for an extended period of time would be difficult.

Actually, I'm flying on Air Tahiti Nui, which I understand co-shares the lounge with AZ. But not many folks seem to know anything about ATN, so I used AZ and the back door. Since this is our 1st award ticket using a class higher than (back of the bus), we have never used an airlines lounge. Can you tell me if the food and drink are free?

Only used NZ lounge in PPT flying on NZ.
I don't know if TN shares the same lounge. It is possible as PPT is a small airport and there are few international flights leaving at the same time.

Anyway, invitation to the lounge is usually given at check-in counters.

After going thru immigration and security, pass the duty free shops, take the stairs on your right up to the bar/cafeteria. Lounge door is opposite to the bar.

You will find a decent selection of snacks and fruits, drinks, magazines and english newspapers.

Since you're travelling on an award ticket, I'll assume that you're travelling for pleasure and not business ... which is somewhat reassuring to me since everyone I know who lives in Rogers works for the world's largest retailer based in nearby Bentonville. And I immediately had visions of Wal-Marts in Tahiti http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

[Not that there's anything wrong with Wal-Marts per se, but it would be nice to be able to travel to a few places they haven't taken root]

Enjoy the islands!

I was in the lounge at PPT about 3 weeks ago. It's quite nice, same decor as the other AirNZ lounges, but bigger than the ones at Nadi and Rarotonga. Drinks are free (of course), there are red and white wines, sparkling wines, spirits, Bailey's and other liqueurs, beer, soft drinks, juices, etc. as well as sandwiches, fruit and snacks (cookies etc.) and of course it's all free. I nicked a few "Tahiti Beer"s which made nice souvenirs for my friends back here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif don't tell anyone

Cheers, Zac

Thanks everyone for your info, and sorry about using the wrong call letters for Air New Zealand.
And yes, there are plenty of us that live in Rogers, AR. that don't have any ties to Wal-Mart. However, it does seem to keep the economy pumped up in our neck of the woods.

Yes TN shares the same lounge as NZ does.

QF also codeshares on the TN flights and have a staff member there, so the NZ lounge for TN flights is also open to QF club and 1w members.

BTW - PPT airport once you are through customs is very nice!
