Air New Zealand Air Points - mobile phone in New Zealand
A bit off topic...
I have a Vodafone mobile phone in Auckland. The number is 0211089XXX. Can someone please explain me what is the area code on it? Is it 0? 02? 021? Should I use 9 first?

If someone's dialling from overseas, they would drop the '0' and simply dial '21'.

Hi,
With the NZ country code in front of the number ie 6421 xxx xxxx to call the number from overseas (no matter where the mobile phone is in New Zealand of course). http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

So the area code is "21", not just "2"?

Toxa, in NZ the regional area codes are two digits eg (09) for Auckland or (03) for the South Island. The code for Mobile phones are (025) or (021), or there is a new code now as well I think - (023) perhaps? Mobile phones are not tied to any particular region, unlike in the US, so there is no 'area code' as such for mobiles.
From inside NZ, even if they were standing in the same room as you, people would have to dial 021 xxx xxxx to reach you. From outside NZ, they would dial +64 21 xxx xxxx.
Hope this helps. And does this mean that you and the ultra-glam ToxaGirl are currently gracing New Zealand with your presence?

Hey, thank you very much for answers and sorry for late reply. I was away for a couple of weeks...
Yes mad_atta, both of us are now NZ semi-regulars. Will be there by June, maybe you can join us for a couple of drinks?
