I have only 37000 airpoints so i called the Airpoints number to find out how many points I need for a SQ sin to denpasar or hong kong return. they say i cannot order that type of flight -just syd-sing and I dont have enough for a return and they dont do one ways.
Anyone know anything different?
I dont want to go to NZ economy!or even first!!
I dont want another worthless confirmed fax!
Oh and anyone ordering a ticket to anywhere from Airpoints-PICK IT UP IMMEDIATELY!
A ticket in the hand is worth 1000 confirmed faxes!

Although I could be eating my words, I doubt very very much that the NZ government would leave NZ and Airpoints high and dry.

The situation with AN was very different.

Latest is that the government will take a 70% share of NZ thus reducing BIL and SQ to about 10%.

What the NZ government intends to do with that 70% share in 1-2 years when things have firmed slightly is anyone's guess.

BTW - my reading of the AP manual says that you can order SQ flights, problem is that they have to contact SQ and that can take many weeks. SQ do not respond all that fast for offers of free tickets.

When i ordered the SQ flight from Ansett it took 3 minutes and SQ sent me a confirmation.
When i called Airpoints the girl who answered knew almost nothing about changing dates etc so i asked to speak to someone else who said they only do Syd-Sing etc. no intra.
i dont think that can be so!
i have ordered another manual but will call them again tomorrow for a more favourable answer. thanks

Hi Tinkybelle,

The reason some operators know more than others is that the reservations staff are being cross-trained in airpoints at the moment both to offer better customer service (less waiting in airpoints phone queue) and so that urgent airpoints bookings can be done after the airpoints contact centre is closed (they only operate 8-8 weekdays). Those being cross-trained are only being trained on NZ operated flights.

Hope this explains why the first operator didn't seem to know much http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I checked my last Airpoints manual and it specifically says you can use APs on any SQ route that is SQ metal (i.e. no codeshares - except the NZ CHC/SIN/CHC legs).

The same goes for UA, LH, AC, BD and any *A partner and virgin.

BTW - I have always found AP staff to be very very helpful and very well trained. But it probably helps being a gold elite http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
