Are Air NZ still awarding points for the class travelled rather than the class booked (when using an upgrade voucher)? The last three times I upgraded using a voucher, they credited my account with business points (1.25 points/km) when I had paid discounted economy (0.7 points/km). Also, is Gold status still 60,00 points? As I'm getting close to Gold, I'd like to know if I need to make an extra trip between now and Nov.

PS - Looks like Air NZ's site will soon have online points status! http://www.airnz.co.nz/travel/frequentflyers/index.jsp

NZ seem to no longer publish the miles required for each level but around 60-70k would be the mark for gold level. Best to check with teh airpoints centre.

NZ "officially" award points only for class booked rather than class traveled (see airpoints rule guide). So when upgraded you "should" only get the the points awarded for your original class. BUT NZs systems appear to unable to accurately track the original ticket and rely on the boarding/seating data instead.

So take it as a bonus rather than a given.
