MilesBuzz! - LatinPass to Hilton conversion question

Based on the thread in the "For Randy Peterson" area, there has been some changes at LatinPass regarding mileage redemption rules being relaxed. What I still don't quite understand is if I want to convert the 5000 mile bonus I received for joining LatinPass and have no additional miles in my LatinPass account, I can go ahead and transfer them to Hilton?

I posted this over there as well but not as many people go over to that thread....

My understanding is that they only changed the rule for the promotion. I don't think you'll be able to transfer the 5,000 to HHonors. However, I may be wrong - it's worth a try. As usual, LP is being vague. By the way, are you not doing the promotion?? I only ask because you were the kind person who initially started that lllooonnnggg thread!!

I am unable to verify this, but my repeated requests to convert my 5000 Latin Pass miles were denied, and my miles expired on Dec 31 1999.
